In the first year of the NAPS
Tournament in 2004, 24 teams
participated in a one weekend
event in Syracuse, NY. At the
beginning, the main focus was
to give our young hockey
players a tournament in which
they could compete against
other strong players from
around the hockey world.
Selects
Hockey, Howe Hockey, and
Warrior Meltdown partnered
with each other to create an
invitation only elite-level
tournament.
The
intent was
to bring the best
competition together for an
entertaining weekend of
hockey. Today
NAPS
invites all top elite players
& teams around the world to
compete.
The directors of this
tournament have been working
hard to improve the level of
competition. We are
especially proud that more and
more teams and players from
across the hockey world are
taking part of our annual
event. We are working
diligently to improve the
quality of our tournament in
order to meet the high
standards expected by our
friends and clients.
Today, this
tournament is being held
during two different weekends
at the ESL Sports Center in
Rochester, NY and targets the
11 to 15 year old hockey
players.
In the
summer of 2007, the NAPS
Tournament consisted of 79
teams over the two weekends,
two Swedish teams, one Russian
team, 36 Canadian teams and 40
teams from the United States.
In 2008, the organizers are
inviting top elite teams from
other countries such as
Sweden, Russia, Finland, as
well as others, and already
have several European teams
committed to participating in
2008. More than 150 teams will
be participating in this
international event.
