Tournament Format & Features

Preliminary round games

  • 4 Games guarantee and "(2) 20-minutes periods stopped -time".
     

  • 3 "man-shootout" after each regulation game tie: 1.5 points awarded for Overtime Win (OTW) and 1 point awarded for overtime loss (OTL)

Playoff Format on Saturday & Sunday

1994 Level

  • The best 16 teams advance to Sunday’s Playoff Round.

  • Each playoff game will consist of  "(2) 15-minute periods".

  • One "30-second timeout" will be permitted by each team.

1995 Level

  • The best 10 teams advance to the Playoff Round, including 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th playing a game on Saturday evening.

  • Each playoff game will consist of  "(2) 15-minute periods".

  • One "30-second timeout" will be permitted by each team.

1996 Level

  • The best 5 teams advance to the Playoff Round, including 4th & 5th playing a game on Saturday evening.

  • Each playoff game will consist of  "(2) 15-minute periods".

  • One "30-second timeout" will be permitted by each team.

U12 & U14 Level

  • All teams in each level advance to Sunday’s Playoff Round.

  • The 1st  and 2st place team in U12 level will receive a “bye” in Sunday’s First Round.

  • The 1st   place team in U14 level will receive a “bye” in Sunday’s First Round.

  •  Each playoff game will consist of  "(2) 15-minute periods".

  • One "30-second timeout" will be permitted by each team.

1993 Level

  • The top three teams in each division advance to Sunday’s Playoff Round.

  • The 1st place team in each division will receive a “bye” in Sunday’s First Round.

  •  Each playoff game will consist of  "(2) 15-minute periods".

  • One "30-second timeout" will be permitted by each team.

1997 and 1998 Level
 

  • The top four teams in each division advance to Sunday’s Playoff Round.
     

  • Each playoff game will consist of "(2) 15-minute periods".
     

  • One "30-second timeout"  will be permitted by each team.

Playoff Tie Games

If there is a tie game at the end of regulation time during the tournament semi-final and/or final, the following overtime rules will apply:

  1. One, Five minute sudden-death period.  Four on Four + Goaltender

  2. One, Five minute sudden-death period.  One on One + Goaltender, any penalty incurred during this period will result in a immediate penalty shot, regardless of the area of the ice the penalty occurs

  3. Shoot-out, three penalty shots to each team. Should tie persist, one penalty shot each until there is a winner.

Players Looking for Teams

Our intent is to make this tournament as competitive as possible.  We have offered to assist in recruiting additional players if necessary.  If you are interested in participating in the NAPS tournament, please fill out the "Individual Player Application" form provided under "Registration/Individual Application sub-menu."
